In the tsunami of South Indian movies taking over the box office, here comes Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai. The actor has come a long way since his debut film Band Baaja Baaraat. He has a phenomenal filmography that has movies like Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat and more. But his last film ’83’ in which he played the role of Kapil Dev failed at the box office. However, he is here to revive Bollywood’s shaky stance at war with regional films. As his name suggests, he is a vigorous actor, but is he powerful enough to take on the dubti naiya of Bollywood? Well, we don’t know, but here’s something to help you decide whether to see the movie in theaters. Grab some popcorn and scroll to read the full review. What’s it about
Jayeshbhai Jordaar’s trailer told the story. He is a shy Jayeshbhai who lives with his family members in Praveengarh, Gujarat. He has a daughter with his wife Kinjal, played by Shalini Pandey. His father, played by Boman Irani, is the sarpanch of Praveengarh and wants a ‘kuldeepak’ for his family. Jayeshbhai and Kinjal undergo 6 abortions after the birth of their first child, and yet for the seventh time, Kinjal conceives a girl. With guilt in his heart for killing his 6 unborn children, Jayeshbhai takes responsibility for his life and refuses to decide for him in any way. He didn’t even his parents. In order to save his unborn child and care for his daughter and wife, Jayeshbhai becomes a hero no one expected. And then he goes on an interesting journey full of comedy, action, drama and lots of emotions. Ranveer Singh, Ranveer Singh, Ranveer Singh! That’s all it covers. The actor has been progressing with each film and Jayeshbhai Jordaar has added another classic to his list. From behavior, pronunciation to emotions, they have done everything right. He just flows effortlessly from scene to scene like a mask spread over bread. Of course, there are times when he can seem a bit over the top. But he’s Ranveer Singh, so that’s what you’d expect when watching his movies. Rookie director Divyang Thakkar also deserves credit for this. The shooting of the film has been done very well without any problem. Needless to say, the supporting cast of Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah have given their best as always.
While the film manages to convey a strong message, it fails to convey the message that the world can be changed without violence. In the end, Jayeshbhai has to be an action hero and it goes against his personality. Also, ‘Jaadu Ki Pappi’ will take you back to the Munna Bhai days, making you wonder why. But other than that, the movie seems to be a totally entertaining masala drama that the audience loves to watch.
BollywoodLife gives 3 stars to Jayeshbhai Jordaar and applauds Ranveer Singh for playing another challenging role that is very different from the male roles he played in police and period dramas. The film is based on emotions so we recommend that you take the Tissue box office. This is a great watch to enhance your weekend.
