Review by: Russel D’Silva
Mahesh Babu has had an important role lately. Since Spyder flopped in 2017, he has delivered a trio of greatest hits courtesy of Bharat Ane Nenu, Maharshi and Sarileru Neekevvaru. However, even though these films became hugely successful, they somehow missed the boat when it came to acquiring that memorable status, which some of the superstar’s previous hits like Srimanthudu, Athadu, Pokiri, Murari and Okkadu . So does Sarkaru Vaari Paata, who also stars National Award winner Keerthy Suresh as the woman, restore that balance for Mahesh Babu in theaters? Well… not at all, but once again, it has all the branding elements necessary to give the actor another box office hit. What is it about
Mahesh (yes, Mahesh Babu takes her own name) runs a loan agency and will go to any lengths to recover a debt. Kalaavathi (Keerthy Suresh), a gambling addict, borrows a large sum from him and threatens him with dire consequences at the hands of her corrupt businessman father (Rajendranath) when she doesn’t pay, leading to a confrontation between Mahesh and her father. what Mahesh claims to be a loan of Rs 10,000 and the truth behind it.
Check out the trailer for Sarkaru Vaari Paata below:
Unlike the previous 4-5 films of his, director Parashuram tried something different with the character of Mahesh Babu in Sarkaru Vaari Pata. The confrontation scenes between Mahesh Babu and Rajendranath also have a lot of spicy drama, while the action sequences reveal just how good they are. Production value is also slow, and R. Madhi’s camera work is another major plus point, as are S Thaman’s songs and background score.
what is not
Unfortunately, Parasuram reduced Keerthy Suresh, one of the greatest heroines in Tamil and Telugu cinema today, to a mere footnote and annoying character, with another Telugu filmmaker making a clear distinction between his hero’s vision and that of the filmmaker. heroin. It shows duality. Even more troubling is how the persecution is forgiven and yet the public feels that Bollywood needs to evolve or match these films. And try to present Mahesh Babu differently, the actor can barely play ball due to how handicapped he still is with his 1 note sense. The rest of the cast also inexplicably exaggerates it. Also, the script of Parashurama, especially the banking and scam parts, is full of plot holes in the form of a pit on the Moon.
Sarkaru Vaari Pata escapes some of the other recent Telugu films by delicately playing to its strengths and galleries, while confident in ignoring its weaknesses. He may not be an RRR but he is definitely better than Radhe Shyam, Acharya or Khiladi. I go with 2.5 out of 5 stars.
